Operational Risk Hides in Plain Sight

Not every risk in tech is a cyber risk. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that operational risk often hides in plain sight during digital transformation. It’s not about carelessness. It’s about speed outpacing visibility.

It shows up when a product team shifts platforms without a full risk review. When an AI model is pushed to production with no guardrails. When a vendor move happens faster than procurement or legal can keep up. These risks don’t always show up on a threat intel feed but they quietly erode trust, resilience, and reliability.

The organizations that manage transformation well are the ones that take the time to map operational dependencies before making technical decisions. You can’t protect what you don’t understand.
