Are smartphones making us, well, less smart?

Here is a test. Do you remember any of the phone numbers you’ve saved under a heading like mom, dad, sibling, child, etc. if you do, wow, that’s great! However, if you don’t, I’d argue that we are placing so much of a reliance upon a device that we are forgetting the powerful database called our brain.

Next time you want to use your smartphone to remember a phone number or work out a travel plan to a store, take a moment to think for yourself and challenge yourself to remember. Little by little you’ll start to see that you can and probably should retain this information in your brain. Release yourself from the shackles of the smart phone 😂!

Beautiful day after

We always get caught up in the negative things that come with a winter storm and often overlook the beauty found within the storm and the after.

Yes it snowed heavy on my Dad’s birthday! Yeah I was digging myself out of my house because we had a foot of snow which appeared to be someone in the sky just throwing huge snowballs at us. Yes I had to clear out the driveway and ended up looking like a lifelike snowman after I was done. Yes we loss power at the house and yes when I woke up and was ready to leave for the day I had to shovel some more to get the car out of the driveway.

That said, after all of that, having the opportunity to capture this beautiful picture on our morning (6:30am) drive was simply wonderful! If you look very closely, you can see the moon up there… #foundmyhappyfortoday

2018 March Nor’easter

Power outage, a lot of snow and it’s almost a year ago that we had a similar snowstorm. Happy to have a snow blower this year, lucky I used it before the outage! I’m tired of the snow and winter, bring on the warm weather!

Is it still considered winter?

It’s February 21st and 75 degrees in NYC today. I took a stroll around the office to take in the beautiful weather. Hard to believe that just a few days ago we had about 8 inches of snow ❄️ and now it’s summer time! But hey, I’m not complaining at all, I’ll take this great weather any day!!!Now if I could just find my phone charger!

A sunset so beautiful and worth sharing

Yesterday evening while at the office I was privileged to witness an amazing sunset that was completely unexpected. The colors were so beautiful that a picture taken failed to capture the true beauty of the bright red, orange and yellow colors spread across the sky.

At certain points it looked like the sky was upside down. You know when you’re on an airplane and you look out the window and see the “fluffiness” of the clouds. Well it looked like that was facing downward at us.

The other thought I had was wow, the world is going to end and if it does it’s a very beautiful ending but I’m missing my loved ones, so please don’t end yet! 😂😜

That said, here’s the photo I captured, no filters applied and snapped with iPhone X.

Cycling this summer…

We all have things we purchase that we just love and I think I found mine for this year.  Last year it was my DJI Phantom drone or Ghost as I call it and this year, well it’s bikes!  I feel like a little kid again and it feels great to ride around the neighborhood with the family.

So if you have a place to store them and you can shed some dollars get yourself a bike immediately because you will absolutely feel the joy and stay healthy at the same time!

Today will go down in herstory! Womens March on Washington

What an impressive display of unity, coordination & humanity.   To quote Tupac,

“Since we all came from a women, got our name from a women, and our game from a women. I wonder why we take from women, why we rape our women, do we hate our women? I think its time we killed for our women, be real to our women, try to heal our women, cus if we dont we’ll have a race of babies that will hate the ladies, who make the babies. And since a man can’t make one he has no right to tell a women when and where to create one”

Millions of women marched all across the country and world today, why do you ask?  This is why!

“The rhetoric of the past election cycle has insulted, demonized, and threatened many of us – immigrants of all statuses, Muslims and those of diverse religious faiths, people who identify as LGBTQIA, Native people, Black and Brown people, people with disabilities, survivors of sexual assault – and our communities are hurting and scared. We are confronted with the question of how to move forward in the face of national and international concern and fear.

In the spirit of democracy and honoring the champions of human rights, dignity, and justice who have come before us, we join in diversity to show our presence in numbers too great to ignore. The Women’s March on Washington will send a bold message to our new government on their first day in office, and to the world that women’s rights are human rights. We stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us.

We support the advocacy and resistance movements that reflect our multiple and intersecting identities. We call on all defenders of human rights to join us. This march is the first step towards unifying our communities, grounded in new relationships, to create change from the grassroots level up. We will not rest until women have parity and equity at all levels of leadership in society. We work peacefully while recognizing there is no true peace without justice and equity for all.

HEAR OUR VOICE.” – www.womensmarch.com/mission/

Happy New Year!

I noticed that all of my Fb posts for the last few years on this day started with “My resolution is to laugh more the following year and hang with family and friends”. Also, “first stop in the new year is Puerto Rico.”

Well, I have no booked travel plans just yet for 2017. So familia/friends feel free to let me know where we should go. Let’s see who’s going to offer up room and board…hahaha?

Joking aside, 2016 had signs of being a flawlessly happy year but then we lost some great people. No I don’t mean celebrities whom I’ve never met, I mean some real up close and wonderful family and friends.

It points to the reason I start off my posts with spending time with family and friends and smiling more than prior year. Tomorrow is never guaranteed, the only guarantees we have are death and taxes. You may be able to cheat taxes but the other is inevitable.

So see ya 2016, it was a good run. We traveled a lot, had a lot of heart ache but spent the better part of the year smiling and laughing with loved ones as seen in pictures, videos and check-in’s.

2017, I don’t know what awaits but I do know that God doesn’t put in our path obstacles he doesn’t believe we can’t handle. I’m looking forward to more continued blessings around good friends and great family!

Happy New Year, thanks for watching, participating, liking, reading and debating. May the new year bring us all health and prosperity while keeping us close to our loved ones!

Ps, I didn’t realize this was such a long post until now…hahaha…Pop the champagne!
