We always try to paint the picture to our parents that we are doing the right thing, so that we don’t upset them or dissapoint them.  I see this in my 7yr old where he tries his hardest not to dissapoint me in any way possible.   What I’ve learned in my years, is that parents always know what we are doing no matter how hard we try to cover things up or paint that rosey picture we believe they want to see or hear.   What I also know is that as we grow up, we are under a lot of pressure to please our parents.  It’s in our nature to want our parents acceptance and so even when we try not to stress ourselves, we find ourselves stressed. 

My takeaways from this film, as a son to two loving parents, I must not try to hide things from my parents as to not upset them.  I should reach out to my parents and seek their advice and guidance and be open with them as they have experience in life that may be beneficial.  As a father, I must not put unnecessary pressure on my son.  So what if he didn’t get a few hits in his baseball game.  It’s not the end of the world, maybe he had other things on his mind and didn’t care to much for the sport today.  We all know he knows how to hit and if he’s not having fun at the sport then so be it, it’s time to change to something he enjoys.

Have you ever thought about whether you are really free?  Not only in the US but more so in life? Are we free people or is there a price for freedom?

I believe freedom exists but for a price. Whether you are a country trying to free yourself from another where the price of freedom is war and the lives lost fighting the war is the price paid.  A spouse trying to end a failing marriage and the cost you endure is losing all your assets and income as the price you pay for your freedom.

I’m sure you get the point of what I mean and am rambling about.   Freedom at the end of the day is a great idea and achievement for many but freedom is very expensive.   There in lies the irony of the word…Freedom…but for a price!

So where am I going with all of this? Well what sparked this post was a sign I saw the other eve while having dinner at a restaurant, see picture. In all honesty, I don’t know what’s worse, seeing the “as seen in tv” product or knowing that it doesn’t work because I saw a roach crawling around the general location of the product.

Sorry Riddex sellers, your product doesn’t work very well… Lol

Now that I got that off my chest, I think I am going to see if a resolution does work for me.  I’ll try it out and see if I can make it happen and will report back next year how I faired with my resolution.

My main resolution for this year is to be more trusting to people and less forgiving to those who lie to me.  I’m sure you’re reading this and saying, yeah that sounds like a good resolution until I said to be “less forgiving for those who lie to me”.   Well I figure if I’m more trusting then people will feel comfortable enough to talk about things and not feel like they need to lie to cover anything up. 

My second resolution is to enjoy life more and work through those challenges that it presents at times.  Like a former boss used to tell me, those challenges that you see are opportunities Tomas.  So my first attempt at enjoying life more is by saying, wow it’s Monday and I can’t wait to get back in that Jersey City office.  Ok, sometimes sarcasm does help with getting through challenges…lol…like the challenge I’m going to have with waking up and going to work after a 2 week staycation suffering through the cold NYC weather.  Wow this is such a great opportunity… (Note to self, this resolution feels like it’s going to be a tough one).  All joking aside, there is always a positive in every challenge, it’s up to you to find it!

My last resolution is to stay focused, driven and confident.  These three things usually lead me to doing good things with my life. 

With that, I’ve put to paper [figuratively speaking], my 2010 or as Mariah C. said during her concert the other night, my 210 resolutions [Mariah, blame it on the goose got you feeling loose]….lol

With that in mind, I figured I’d share one of my all time favorite Tom Hanks movies, You’ve Got Mail.  There are several great “acting moments” throughout the movie but there is some good work between the two stars towards the last two main scenes with Tom and Meg.  For the actors out there you’ll know exactly what I mean.  For the fans of my blog…hahah, I know that’s a strecth but why not aspire!…You’ll be able to tell what I mean because the scene will draw you in and you’ll actually have a feeling.  You’ll know exactly what I mean when you feel it!
