Everybody’s Fine

What a great movie (Everybody’s Fine) along with excellent acting.  I’m sure everyone can relate with this movie in some way or another.

We always try to paint the picture to our parents that we are doing the right thing, so that we don’t upset them or dissapoint them.  I see this in my 7yr old where he tries his hardest not to dissapoint me in any way possible.   What I’ve learned in my years, is that parents always know what we are doing no matter how hard we try to cover things up or paint that rosey picture we believe they want to see or hear.   What I also know is that as we grow up, we are under a lot of pressure to please our parents.  It’s in our nature to want our parents acceptance and so even when we try not to stress ourselves, we find ourselves stressed.

My takeaways from this film, as a son to two loving parents, I must not try to hide things from my parents as to not upset them.  I should reach out to my parents and seek their advice and guidance and be open with them as they have experience in life that may be beneficial.  As a father, I must not put unnecessary pressure on my son.  So what if he didn’t get a few hits in his baseball game.  It’s not the end of the world, maybe he had other things on his mind and didn’t care to much for the sport today.  We all know he knows how to hit and if he’s not having fun at the sport then so be it, it’s time to change to something he enjoys.

You’ve got mail

One of the many reasons I enjoy acting is due to how movies can touch a person.  As an actor, there are many different trainings and techniques that can help you to be in the moment.  The moment is pretty important and when you are watching other actors work you can usually spot good acting or as some might refer to it as you can’t tell they are acting because it feels so real.

With that in mind, I figured I’d share one of my all time favorite Tom Hanks movies, You’ve Got Mail.  There are several great “acting moments” throughout the movie but there is some good work between the two stars towards the last two main scenes with Tom and Meg.  For the actors out there you’ll know exactly what I mean.  For the fans of my blog…hahah, I know that’s a strecth but why not aspire!…You’ll be able to tell what I mean because the scene will draw you in and you’ll actually have a feeling.  You’ll know exactly what I mean when you feel it!

Happy viewing!

Dream

Was home watching a romantic comedy, ”I said it, yeah I said it” to quote Chris Rock after a traumatic evening in the Bx.  This song came on at a certain part of the movie and not only was it perfect timing in the scene of the movie but it was/is a good choice of song.   I liked the song so much and hadn’t ever heard of it that I felt the need to blog about it.  See a clip of the song “Dream” by Priscilla Ahn below courtesy of youtube, take it in and enjoy.  Ok, now to surpress this softer side of me again…lol

I forgot to tell you the happy ending… you

I’m just a sucker for romantic comedies and this evening was no exception, considering how I couldn’t sleep, I decided to watch one…

So if you’ve never seen this movie, then you should!
